About the ERA project

Objectives

  1. Promote active ageing: Encourage elderly individuals in rural areas to remain physically, mentally, and socially active
through participation in art therapy sessions.
  2. Foster creativity and artistic expression: Provide elderly participants with opportunities to engage in creative activities, such as painting, drawing, and sculpting, to express themselves and explore their artistic potential.
  3. Enhance well-being and quality of life: Improve the mental, emotional, and social well-being of elderly individuals by offering a therapeutic outlet for self-expression and emotional processing.
  4. Promote environmental awareness: Utilize recycled materials and natural elements in art therapy sessions to raise awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability.
  5. Combat social isolation: Create a supportive and inclusive environment where elderly participants can connect with their peers, share experiences, and build meaningful relationships.

The project aims to address several critical needs related to the well-being and quality of life of elderly individuals, particularly those living in rural areas. These needs include:

  1. Social Isolation and Loneliness
  2. Mental and Emotional Well-being
  3. Physical Health and Mobility
  4. Cognitive Stimulation and Brain Health
  5. Sense of Purpose and Meaning

By addressing these diverse needs through the implementation of art therapy programs, the project aims to enhance the
overall well-being, resilience, and quality of life of elderly individuals in rural areas, thereby promoting healthy ageing and
active engagement in later life.
